Translation Science Liaison

Position Summary:

This position is for a translational science liaison (TSL) at Rion LLC located in Rochester, MN. The TSL will serve as the primary communicator between Rion and multiple academic and other institutions. As such, the hire will be expected to collect and provide scientific input into the design, execution, reporting, and interpretation of non-clinical proof of concept and safety studies. The position affords the opportunity to serve as the key communicator to a multidisciplinary team in Rion’s therapeutic fields, including dermatology, cardiology, woman’s health, and pulmonology. The TSL will engage with and maintain relationships with leading physicians and researchers at academic institutions, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies. Additionally, the liaison will ensure that Rion’s products are used effectively in non-clinical studies, and will serve as a scientific resource and expert to advise and provide input about relevant scientific and clinical data with an emphasis on the rapidly increasing therapeutic potential of exosome-based therapies.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists Vice President of Clinical Operations and Translation in the maintenance and prioritization of non-clinical proof of concept and safety studies
  • Communicates with leading physicians and researchers at prestigious academic institutions, including the Mayo Clinic
  • Provides scientific insight into the design, execution, and interpretation of non-clinical studies
  • Succinctly and effectively summarizes the content and safety implications from non-clinical studies for regulatory submissions, including components for investigational brochures and clinical protocols
  • Effectively maintains a scientific database of non-clinical studies
  • Interacts with other functional area experts in a project team environment to review the non-clinical data for a given program, and provide input on future non-clinical study design
  • Scientifically oversee the design, reporting and interpretation of exploratory non-clinical studies
  • Represents Rion on partnered programs and at external venues such as scientific meetings
  • Develops organizational strategies to support corporate goals, direction, and growth.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills: coaches/mentors/supports peers
  • Maintains transparent and concise communication by sharing organizational information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and other venues
  • Keeps up to date with current scientific literature with an emphasis on exosome therapeutics and indications
  • Abides by company policies regarding safety rules and regulations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D with focus in life sciences or similar technical field
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience as a medical science liaison or similar field in clinical development or scientific communication
  • Prior experience in fundamental and translational research
  • Sound scientific knowledge in cellular biology
  • Excellent communication skills and abilities to collaborate with and present to individuals of varying levels of authority, including senior and executive leadership
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail with an ability to perform critical review of various types of documents
  • Outstanding written and verbal skills
  • Ability to independently solve problems and work cross-culturally
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player with multi-disciplinary project teams
